A lot of attention has recently been given to the correlation between what a pregnant woman eats before conception and the gender of the baby she ends up having. A recent study indicated that women who consume more daily calories (as much as about 2200) and consumed breakfast were more likely to conceive a boy. Some women who want sons will read this and arbitrarily try to bump up their caloric intake and start making breakfast a priority. While I applaud these efforts, you should know that in a sense this is flying blind, because the acidity of the foods are every bit as important as what you consume and when. I'll tell you why this is true in this article and will also offer examples of the foods you should be eating (and avoiding) if you're wanting to conceive a boy.
Why The Foods You Eat Affect Your Chances Of Conceiving A Boy: The theory behind all of this food business lies with your body's acidity. Your vaginal PH actually greatly affects the sperm that will produce a girl or a boy. The Y or boy sperm are very weak and can not survive for very long in a high PH before they begin to weaken and die off. So, if you want a son, you'll need to lower this PH, which is also known as "alkalizing your body." You can do this through your diet or through douching.
A Diet High In Sodium And Potassium Are Said To Help When Wanting A Boy Baby: Old wives tales will tell you that you should consume bananas to get a son. There is some validity to this, but there are better options. These myths are based on high sodium / potassium containing foods. Bananas do contain a high amount of potassium, but they are relatively low in sodium. Better choices are apricots, figs, raisins, nuts, All Bran, and baked potatoes with skins.
Likewise, it's said that you should avoid foods high in magnesium and calcium (which favors a girl). Examples are cheese, yogurt, legumes, and leafy green vegetables.
Alkalizing Foods To Lower Your Vaginal Acidity And PH In Preparation For A Boy Conception: Potassium and magnesium can only go so far. You'll also need to alkalize your vaginal tract. One important part of this is going on a diet that is very high in alkaline foods. Examples are almost all veggies with the exception of corn. Many people believe that orange juice is acidic (I used to). It's actually quite alkalizing as is watermelon and spinach.
Highly Acidic Foods That You Want To Avoid If You're Trying For A Son: What you add to your diet is very important, but you'll also need to steer clear of foods with a high PH that can throw a wrench in all of your hard work. Examples are many fruits, most meats, and whole grains. Most vegetables are alkaline, but corn is not, having a surprisingly high PH.
If You Want To Make This Process Quicker And Easier: If you have patience and lots of diligence, you can alkalize your body with foods alone. However, if you faster or more dramatic results, you can accomplish this through combining your diet and douching. There is an easy way that you can test this. Get a PH testing kit from many nutrition stores or on line. Test your PH before you start any of the diets or douches. Then, after a few days of your restrictive diet, test again. You'll probably see moderate results. Then, douche with a solution meant to lower your PH (this is usually stronger than just baking soda) and test again. You'll likely see that the douching made a big difference. But, douching is not mandatory if you have the patience to implement the diet and keep testing until you reach optimal levels.
A Few Other Considerations: Foods and douching are very important pieces in the gender selection puzzle. But, there are a few more. You will also need to conceive on the day of ovulation and use sexual positions that place the sperm very close to the egg (deep penetration.) Both of these things ensure a shorter, less traumatic trip for the relatively weak boy sperm.
I know this seems like a lot to think about, but just look at it as a simple three step process consisting of timing, positioning, and obtaining the right PH. There are douche recipes and food list that make this process a bit easier. And, it helps to use a calendar to record ovulation, the foods you're to eat, and your PH readings so you can literally see when the time is right.
